WOW! I have a lot of Spike Jones records and really enjoy their zany antics during the songs they played, but I had NO IDEA how funny these guys were LIVE! I just recorded some old 16 inch Armed Forces Radio Service transcription disks with 15 minutes of Spike Jones live on each one and I laughed my ass off! The great comics of today got nuthin' on these guys. Here is a recording of a 16" radio transcription disc of Louis Armstrong and his All Stars live at the Hollywood Empire Room in 1951. The All Stars include: Earl 'Fatha' Hines on Piano, Jack Teagarden on Trombone, Barney Bigard on Clarinet, Big Sid Catlett on Drums, Arvell Shaw on Bass, Thelma Middleton vocal. It's a great show.
